This project holds a special place in our hearts; the client’s kindness and appreciation towards every hand that took part in their project will always be looked back on fondly. We designed their new space to evoke a calm sense of renewal mirroring the restorative feeling they love from favourite pastimes:  hiking + curling up with a good book. We are honoured that this project was also selected as an OHA 2026 Silver Award Winner.

• Key to designing a new functional layout was the ability maximize organization, while minimizing clutter.  We layered a timeless palette of calming neutrals, natural wood-tones, and organic textures creating a serene atmosphere.

• Thoughtful lighting design creates customizable ambiance through dimmability of all recessed lighting layers, and artisanal fixtures.  
  

Despite this small footprint, we successfully captured client must-haves including:

• Dedicated workstation with practical storage towers (which also conceal the fixed bulkhead in conjunction with the Desk Arch).  

• Solved awkward existing foundation jogs with Built-in Millwork across lower level TV Area.

• Designed comfortable Dining and Conversational areas to accommodate larger gatherings

• Created Chef’s Kitchen with high-end appliances, including clever pullout accessories optimizing function.    

• Minimized less visually important elements like Microwave (tucked in Island), and Electrical components received matching stain-grade covers.

As a timeless nod to nature’s subtleties - the client’s love of outdoors is reflected with cozy finishings featuring:

• Grounded sable-stained White Oak
• Subtle honed Marble + artisanal tile backsplashes
• Polished Nickel + Aged Brass fixtures
• Soft Interior palette of linens + lambswools tones
  

Decor needed meaning to be included - we commissioned a local artist for watercolours of the client’s favourite florals/landscapes, we gathered river-stones from along the clients’ favourite hikes, and supported local shops for finishing touches.

Every element was chosen to support stillness, beauty, and daily ease.

A modern sanctuary within a compact footprint - leaving a lasting impression.
